Like acting, plot, dialogue, etc?

It's probably directing for me. If I see a bunch of boring ass shots I usually tune out.

the ether
plot plot plot plot plot. Plot above all else.

Second to plot is character development. I want to see the characters as real people who grow and change. But that's much more important to me in a show that goes on for many episodes than it is in a one-off movie.

Acting/dialogue is really hard for me to separate. Good acting makes the dialogue look better, but bad dialogue can make the acting look worse. Either way it's not really what I go to the movie to see but the competence has to be there to keep the movie from falling apart, and sometimes it can elevate a good movie into a GOAT.

Cinematography isn't as big a deal to me. It really elevates a good movie, but it's not the primary reason I go to see a movie.

Plot and Ending..... Ive grown to appreciate cinematography, good acting, great dialogue though

But without a good plot or concept, the rest becomes kind of irrelevant

Ending is important too. It's shows that I've wanted to binge but after being told about their shytty endings (Lost, GoT) I couldn't invest the time knowing it ended bad

For movies it's the acting, then plot.

For TV, it's the premise of the show, then characters, then entertainment factor.

Depends on the genre of film (and I have a background in drama studies so that probably explains my opinions) but for me regarding modern cinema:

Dialogue - This is usually where you get the bulk of your character development and exposition unless you've got a corny narrator or some shyt. Hard for me to get into the plot of a film without this being solid. A good example would be the first scene of Reservoir Dogs.. That shyt set up the characters perfectly and I don't even love the film too much
Plot
Acting
Directing & Cinematography
Score & Sound

Edit - It is interesting trying to rank this because what I like the most about a movie would end up just looking like a low-energy stage play, not cinema, if all the other elements weren't brought together well :russ:

That's actually what I like about Hateful 8.
