Shiiiiet, bruh you could easily fill that up with just Stevie Wonder :lupe:. These are some of my favorites, not saying they're universally the best:

Stevie Wonder - Innervisions
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
Spinners - Mighty Love
Maze/F. Beverly - Golden Time of Day
Kool & Gang - Light of Worlds
M.J. - Off the Wall
Clark Sisters - Is My Living In Vain? (technically gospel...and technically a 1980 release, but it really shares a lot of the soulful qualities of R&B. Love this joint.)

Safe to say Songs in the key of life is the Illmatic of that era and genre
Debatable but yea most probably consider it his magnum opus. I put Innervisions over it because I heard that first, and it was a little more digestible for me a the time (key of life had damn near 20 songs). But honestly his whole 70s run was crazy.

It’s so many good soul albums in the 70s it’s impossible to choose just one.

This isn’t Ricks best album but is good for sure.

70s had to be some sort of renaissance or something, idk what it was :damn:. And not just for soul/r&b.
