It's becoming an essential growing interest for me, and I would like to know what you all had in mind.

check out moocs for online lectures. E-books are widely available or just order books off amazon.

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
The Library. I've gone through about 50 books in the past 8-9 months. If my city library doesn't have what I'm looking for, they'll order/borrow it.

Also, talk to old people. I'm not even kidding. Like 80+ years old. Those cats have books that are out-of-print and stories about their first-hand experiences that could be movies.

For instance, I know 3 people who actually were witnesses to this.........

Not passengers, but they helped rescue people that jumped overboard when the ship beached.

This dude above me :beli:

Anyway, books would be the answer to this thread. The Teaching Company offers some great audio courses, and Yale offers free lectures on their website.

just be careful about certain sources..... 10/12 history books in the US contain wrong info.

you should look at books, then look at opinions online, then talk w old people if u can, then read some things by historians...

then think about ... what u think about that particular subject.

I think this is a very important aspect to learning history, GET THE OTHER SIDE, or at least various sides. Think about this. In school you learn what about native americans? You learn Thanksgiving...and that's about it. If you look at the actual history (even that history since Europeans got here) and wow, that's a sad ass story that get WAAAAYYYYY whitewashed.

Don't just read one book on one subject is all i'm saying

The library, amazon.com, try to find bookstores that's geared towards what your searching. Plus, I'd say its also good to segment the shyt. I've always felt the way you feel now, since I was a little kid I had this need to understand what the hell was going on around me. At this stage of my life its become more or less answering why the world is how it is, why black people are in the position they're in now, etc etc. Any questions you have can be found in a book, but be a critical thinker...I can't stress that enough.

If you drive a lot, there's a podcast called Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. It's a pretty dope podcast, goes deeper than the stuff you learn in history books. And it isn't biased to either side of any lectures. Very interesting stuff. All of them are about 4 hours.
