I have pushups, handstand pushups on a wall, one-legged squats and maybe superman pushups for core strength. Basically imagine a little kid that cannot yet shoot from 18 feet out with ease and needs to learn. I figure the squats will increase leg strength which will help with shooting and the arms will be getting a workout as well.

Jump squats help me the most with strength for basketball. Do them till they burn then take a quick break and get right back into them till they burn again.

How old is he?

16 or 17 but with no strength whatsoever. I took him to the court and he can shoot from the 3 point line, which is about 18 feet i think but it takes a great deal of his strength to do so. so obviously he won't be doing it in a game.

You use a lot of your lower body to shoot from long distance, so get him doing squats ASAP.

And if he's 16/17 that's old enough to get in a weight room breh.

Thread title made it seem like you were talking about a lil kid

I guess it's never too late to try and learn and at 16 he could be a late sophomore or early junior. If he was young it's just something you practice over and over.
