What advice would you give a gal/family going to college?

one of my cousin going to college, and she is like famly, and I know there are wolves out there on campus.

I feel like telling her:

get good grades
keep nose clean

and then...

use protection
etc

but I know know her fam, on some be christian and wait till marriage before sex, dont know if she has done it before...but her loose cac roomie will not help the situation...

I know how college was...I know how my bros and male cousins acted. Of course its a double standard for her. dont want to here, stories about preg/drop out/abrt/IR not from my cuzzo

I'd say instead of avoiding credit cards EDUCATE her about credit cards. Credit cards are a blessing if used correctly.

Exactly! Dudes always had the lamest excuses when it came to why they skipped. Just remember: You'll spend less time in classes in college than you did in high school, so never allow yourself to believe going to class is too burdensome. Especially for classes where you're struggling to understand the material...even if you think the professor isn't helping with his lectures, at the very least it's forcing you to concentrate on that subject for that hour.


To add on: Consider tutoring. The most effective way to deeply learn something is to teach it to someone else. They'll ask questions from angles you didn't even think of, and answering them will give you a different perspective on the subject matter.

On a similar note, make effective use of study groups. Know the rules regarding collaboration, of course, but lean on fellow students as much as possible.

2. Early on identify the people who are ambitious and seeking the top grades... then mingle with them.

3. Show up... Lecturers will know the people who are always in their classes...

4. At the first sign of trouble go and see your lecturer. Do not wait till the last minute for help. This ties in with point 3. Lecturer will be happy to help you (unless they're a dikk) if you've been showing up at class.

5. Do not piss off your teachers... as your grades rest in their hand.

LMAO. My freshman year, I had a guy ask to come to my room to give me a massage. I had a boyfriend when I went to college so I said no (besides the fact that I didn't really know him like that).
