Or did they have some of the best matches off all-time?

When you look it strictly from a wrestling ability standpoint, these nikkas had no weaknesses. We should be talking about their matches on the All-time great level, however they are never on anybody's lists and are rarely mentioned. People talk about Angle/***** and Angle/HBK all the time..What went wrong? :ohhh:

Even though i think they had great matches at Wrestlemania, Summerslam and the Ironman match on Smackdown, they weren't all-time great if that makes sense :ld:

Also, i don't feel like their feud was ever buildup as a huge deal and got the proper focus like it should have. Part of the reasoning i believe being that their entire rivalry took place on Smackdown. Even though Smackdown was the better show back then, it was never suppose to be, and wasn't marketed that way. In 03' their feuds were always second place to whatever Triple H was doing, Rock/Austin, HBK and Goldberg. Imagine if the entire Cena/Rock build last year took place on taped Smackdowns, shyt doesn't have the same impression.

Thoughts?:dwillhuh:

As you said, they had some incredible matches but they weren't GOAT level.

Personally I think that it was to do with the whole atmosphere of the feud in general. I thought it was great that they were buddies and doing the whole goofy backstage shyt like drinking milk, that pressup/situp challenge etc, but it kind of dilutes away from the seriousness and gravitas of the feud when they're tight with each other. There's no sense of "wow, these nikkas despise each other and would do anything to win" when they're cool with each other.

I don't thing the fact it was exclusively on Smackdown had much to do with it, cause JBL and Eddie's feud was dope and that was also Smackdown-only. The difference was JBL and Eddie had clear roles. JBL was the evil rich Republican white guy and Eddie was the working-class Mexican hero. Contrast that with Angle and Lesnar at the time - Angle was the goofy whiteboy Olympic champion and Lesnar was the slightly less goofy whiteboy NCAA champion.

WM 19 was a colossal let down and that dead crowd proved it. The follow ups were better but Lesnar has no classics. Him getting shytted on at WM XX and the Eddie match are his career highlights besides his strength feats.

Haven't seen the WM19 match in YEARS. i have the DVD and it's been in the plastic for over a year :deadrose: gonna have to go back and watch. But i did see Wrestlemania XIX live, and i think the dead crowd had more to do with the crowd being gassed after sitting though Hogan/Vince & Rock/Austin, not that Lesnar/Angle wasn't good.

And the Eddie match is a career highlight for Eddie Guerrero NOT Brock :what:

I think his matches with Rock, Eddie, HIAC with Taker and The Ironman match with Kurt are his best though. Maybe not classics to some, but definitely great imo. He actually got some good matches out of Big Show too. Just makes you wonder what coulda been had he stayed around for a couple more years. I've always been :mindblown: that his matches with Angle were never as good as i imagined they would be.

I thought their Ironman match was considered to be a classic. Certainly my 2nd favorite Ironman match, only behind Rock vs HHH.

The matches were just "good". Two great athletes having good matches. The story telling aspect wasn't there. Kurt could have been the "old lion" defending his turf etc. they just threw them out there without much to work around beyond literally having "good" matches which they did.

Lesnar's best work was with Undertaker IMO

Brock worked for too short of a time for me to be shocked he didn't have a any classics. He never got a great feud/angle and that's almost a necessity for a GOAT match. And, besides Angle (whom he had 3 very good-to great matches), he didn't get to work other elite workers for an extended period of time.

Agreed on the Taker HIAC match love, it's my 2nd favorite after the OG one. His match with ****** on SD! should be mentioned as one of his best too :scheme:

That's Kurt's formula though. And most of the fans eat it up, that's why he's viewed as a GOAT candidate, specially in TSC :yeshrug:. He would be in my GOAT list too if he would take the time to tell better stories in his matches because when he does do that, he pretty much always delivers a classic.

Everyone of their matches was damn good and their Ironman match was a 5 star one. Doesn't get to much better than that.

They had good matches . The feud itself just wasn't that special sort of like punk vs Jericho

I was coming in here to say just this.

Brock's feuds were mostly bullshyt...

Off the top of my head I can't think of a single thing that really made any of his feuds special. His joints were always filled with some kind of bullshyt turn or goofy segments.

I think the best feud to date that Lesnar has had was with Taker and Paul Heyman has a lot to do with that.
