No big deal with an M-16A1 or M-9. Took about 20 min.

My assigned weapon was an M-249 SAW.

one time after a 2 week Top said " no one going home until all these weapons are clean!!!"




we said cool bust out the CLP cleaned to about 2100 (we came back around 1400) then is ass came back and said "naw i said the entire arms room"



we didnt leave unti 0100 and he had the nerve to say ......"see you are 0600 formation"

249s did suck. Always reccommended a team effort to make it faster. I was the unit armorer as an additional duty. Best duty ever. If someone pissed me off regardless of rank, I kicked your weapon back. I can always find carbon.

Had a 1LT one time be a dikk and turn in a dirty weapon. Told him it wasn't clean enough. He said he was too busy and left. Called the commander and told him the LT left a dirty weapon with me.

LT was there till I was ready to close the arms room.

Only time it sucked was when our alarm went down and me and my assistant armorers had to spend the weekend in the arms room. The commander and his wife dropped by several times with food and drinks for us. Working directly for the commander had its perks.

As a vet, I respect all special forces. Just about every other job is just like any other.
