whenever i get stuck and don't know what i need to add or change then i just let the skeleton rock on a loop while i play records on top of it til something sounds like it could work.

most of my routine is just spent logging samples in my brain so when i have time to make a beat i can sit down and know exactly what records to grab and where to drop the needle. only way i can avoid beat block.

i watch old ass movies and ponder the creative process that went into them...the why and how...the limited technology and what it took to get around it...
metropolis, battleship potemkin, hitchcock movies...inspires me the most, i dont know why

i think the older art were more focused on stimulating people, maybe thats why...

I tend to listen to other genres to find ways to incorporate unique elements from other genres to sort of fuse them with hip hop

Like just recently Ive been working on scat singing and listening to alot of Bebop Jazz and trying to use it in my music to create somethign unique and entertaining

When i finish a beat I turn the volume real loud and go outside and listen to how it sounds.. :dead:

:russ:i found myself doing that shyt to.
My brother got mad at me like "Why you turn up the volume so loud in the car while you not even sitting inside the car?"
I said i wanted to hear how it would sound if people passing heard it.:dead:

Bruh, I do this shyt all the time. I don't even finish the beat a lot of the times. I might just get done making the verse part and I turn the volume ALL the way up, go to the patio, light up a cig and just listen to the beat. I usually get some inspiration on where to take the track or what I need to hear just by listening to it that way.

Ill do that all the way up to beat completion and damn near have finished a pack of newports.
