This is beautiful, and considering the year….absolutely appropriate. Educating and empowering black kids was a big deal when I was growing up. And most of my teachers were men. I hardly ever see male teachers now. That’s REALLY what’s needed.
Bold is a good point. I rarely see black male teachers. and i had a black principal at my highschool growing up.
The only black teacher was the football coach who also did PE.
and the bond he had with the kids was stronger than that of any of the other teachers. People still keep in touch with him 20 years later.
I imagine what kind of success black boys would have if they had that kind of bond with their other teachers.
And maybe thats why black girls do better in school, because black female teachers are more common.
