Meanwhile, like I say every time somebody acts funny about Spirit or Alegiant or Frontier, ALL airlines have issues. I’m trying to get from point A to point B…not try to be boujie because nikkas online want to front and act like they want to spend more than they need to on a flight. Southwest’s firewall went down (third party, but they were using it), which is a HUGE security issue.

Southwest Airlines briefly paused its departures on Tuesday after reporting technical problems, delaying half of its planned flights.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the ground stop had been lifted, but more than 2,100 flights were delayed as of 4 p.m. ET, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware. The delays accounted for more than half of U.S. flights on Tuesday.

Early this morning, a vendor-supplied firewall went down and connection to some operational data was unexpectedly lost," Southwest said in a statement. "Southwest Teams worked quickly to minimize flight disruptions."

Southwest shares fell 0.8% on Tuesday, while the broader market and other large airline stocks rose.

Airlines or the FAA will occasionally pause departures, particularly at certain airports, to avoid bottlenecks for parking on the ground.

Southwest had a meltdown over the year-end holidays, which drove thousands of flight cancellations and resulted in an $800 million pretax hit for the fourth quarter. The airline upgraded scheduling software that couldn't handle numerous changes to crew assignments during severe winter weather late last year.

The issues Tuesday did not appear to be related to that software.

The previous meltdown increased scrutiny on the airline's technology from Washington.

"This is another demonstration that Southwest Airlines needs to upgrade their systems and stop the negative impacts to individual travelers," said Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, in a statement Tuesday.

Southwest is scheduled to report first-quarter results on April 27 before the market opens.”

I pay more money not to fly Spirit. Not because of being "bougie", but because they are unprofessional and appear to have less regard for safety from what I've experienced on my flights with them.
I can’t deny your experience. I just have never had a bad experience in at least 200 flights on the “smaller” airlines. Point A to point B and it’s not like any of their flights have ever ended in a crash (unlike other major airlines)

I mean with all the rachett shyt on Spirit, can you blame people for not wanting to fly that airline? Spirit would actually be good if it wasn't for the hoodlums.
True, true. But if I can save $100-200 for dealing with less than ideal people for all of a couple hours, it really ain’t that big of a deal. Ain’t like they be bothering me because I be minding my business, in my own zone

I actively choose which airlines to display, so I don’t have to scroll past Frontier and Spirit. Besides the unprofessionalism, those airlines tend to attract a customer base I don’t care to travel with.

:unimpressed:
I go to Google Flights, open the calendar, and pick the cheapest flight. I can’t be worried about who ima be on a plane with for a couple hours. As long as it ain’t Bin Laden’s minions, idc

Just flew back home on Southwest and thankfully missed the current set of delays by a day. The irony is that we flew out with vouchers they gave us for getting caught up in all that Christmas bs. If we had of got caught twice in a row, I know I would have been fuming.

I'm probably one of the few who never had a bad experience with Spirit but it's been years since I flew with them.

I will never fly Frontier again. Out of 4 flights, 3 times were not smooth with the last one being lost luggage and it was hell to get in contact with them to find my shyt. I can't fly with an airline where if something goes wrong, I can't get in contact with someone on the phone. They only have online chat now.

Crazy, I don't think I ever flew Southwest. Maybe once. I try to stick with Alaska or Delta. If the destination is not too far and it's summer, I'd rather drive. The older I get, the less I feel like dealing with the airport.
