I'm not sure how it is in other "worlds" but within the first world, everyone must "get a chance" at life. Including all sorts of disease ridden, sickly babies. We are destroying ourselves by passing on these inferior, weak genes by allowing everyone a chance to live life.

I'm not saying kill every weak, sick, deformed baby in the womb or right after birth. But I'm saying if they get sick to the point of being on total life support requiring extensive attention in order for them to survive...let them die

Save the future generation from inferior genes. :manny:

I should have died, I suffered from a host of illnesses when I was a newborn baby. Now, I'm here, self conscious, and have a an obligation to live. That wasn't the case when I was just born so I should have died then, instead of eventually passing on my inferior genes...

You make a valid point except you fail to realize a couple of things:

1) We are still in the infancy of genetic understanding. We know many things, but there is a long way to go. Eventually we might be able to suppress inferior genes (there are surely ethical debate that will arise out of that) or genetic disorders

2) Many of the things you fear are not genetic, thus have no chance of being passed down.

3) Cultures that practiced this form of artificial human selection did not better themselves in anyway. Sparta is a good example. They eventually were subjugated to rule by others who did not practice this.

In short: knowledge, technology, medical advancement>>>> artificial selection

So OP is a part-time Eugenist :leon:

On a serious note, humans are not cattle, it's immoral to say we should let someone die because they're "weak".

yea but we are animals. and survival of the fittest applies to every other species.

didnt hitler send all the disabled and retarded people he could to the gas chambers? in a world devoid of any morality, strictly economic and realist, that move makes sense :yeshrug:

It's interesting because the Eugenicist movement is highly influenced by the one from the Nazi regime.

animals are too selfish for this

we dont do whats right for the collective whole, but for only us, at least our perception of whats right

for instance

it'd be far more effective for the human race to have 10 year olds work their PICKED career, picked by the government/program that knows what is best for human production

then kill them off at age 40-50 when there is no productivity left in these humans, then there is no need for medication/life support etc. but instead every living human is a productive member of society

but too many people are scared of this theology so it'll not happen soon

and no, i don't want this to happen either, i',m too selfish

unless these people are having sex your whole argument is moot

and if they survived long enough to pass on their genes then the can't be that weak.

But it's okay for us to let someone die if they're "cruel"(capital pnishment)?
