That’s when Sweeney Murti asked Cashman about the pitchers he passed on and he got testy and was like “I didn’t. Name names.”
The worst answer he gave was regarding Verlander because he low key admitted winning a title wasn’t as important as getting under the tax.
and that’s where the divide from this crew and George really is because George would’ve spent they money especially with a squad like this.
why give out so many trash contracts and the act like the money fountain is all dried up when pitching comes into play.

The only answer is that winning is not the first priority. If it was, you wouldn’t scoff at making the moves to get an ace, regardless of whether there’s a couple bad deals on the books right now. Those deals will end sooner or later anyway.

The biggest part of Corbins contract is for the back half and Verlander only got a 2 year extension. I feel if we wanted them we may have been able to dl something they aren’t taking discounts to come to nyc though
