Looking back, Goldberg was essentially the Fedor Emelianenko of wrestling. Just OVER because of pure mystique, dominance, and simplicity.
His matches were probably what made me fall in love with big fights. I used to get hyped over Goldberg's big matches. It wasn't like most wrestlers where a lot of matches are made on the fly. Every match was an "event" in itself: The Goldberg Fight. Almost as if it were separate from Nitro itself. The walk. The pyro. Not a lot of segments, promos, and shyt in street clothes hours before the match. It was like, "You want Goldberg...you'll see him when it's time for him to wrestle because that's what does. He's a fighter...not an entertainer."
It was like, "On Nitro, Goldberg has a shot at whoever gets the US Title. Be there," or "Goldberg's taking on The Giant. Can he even hit the Jackhammer on him? How can he win?" It was like watching your create-a-wrestler come alive.
Dude just WAS his storyline. "The Man They Call Goldberg". I'm just marking out looking back but this match reminds me of when I used to stay up for Goldberg matches. Probably the last time I felt genuine suspense about wrestling.
