WBO: Wladimir Klitschko-Tyson Fury Due In 180 Days

Wladimir Klitschko got by a game Bryant Jennings by unanimous decision to retain his heavyweight crown. On fight two of his three fight deal with HBO, not many challengers remain. Klitschko has always wanted to hold all the belts and be the undisputed champion of the heavyweight division. He holds all of the sanctioning organization’s titles minus the WBC. The belt was relinquished by his brother Vitali as he chose to pursue a career Ukrainian politics. That belt is currently held by Deontay Wilder.

While Klitschko may want to hold all the belts in his division, he has a mandatory due in Tyson Fury for the WBO piece of the crown. According to the organization’s president, that bout is due in 180 days.

“Tyson Fury is the mandatory,” Francisco Valcarcel told BoxingScene.com. “The fight is due in 180 days and we expect it to happen in the next 6 months.”

Klitschko-Fury is a big fight in its own right. Regarding the performance of Klitschko tonight and how it might change the dynamic of a possible Klitschko-Fury bout Valcarcel said - “Listen its boxing, you can’t know everyone out. Ali didn’t knock everyone out. Frazier didn’t knock everyone out. I think Klitschko-Fury is a very big fight but this performance doesn’t go hand in hand with the style of Fury."

The other day Teddy Atlas was saying this is the weakest era of heavyweight boxing, he was also saying that Wlad isnt technically that "great" and I agree, this era is weak and since its weak guys like Wlad get away with murder. This man leans straight back from punches and has other flaws that I feel like if this era had a little bit better talent he wouldnt be such a dominate champion...but Im just glad to see him fight Tyson Fury and hopefully Wilder before he retires.
