The World Boxing Council (WBC) has begun a drug awareness and testing program with the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) beginning with the Lucas Matthysse-Viktor Postol fight on Oct. 3.

The new venture between the sanctioning body and testing agency is called the “WBC Clean Boxing Program,” according to a WBC press release that was sent out (in English and Spanish) to boxing media on Sunday.

The program is supported by VADA and the organization’s president Dr. Margaret Goodman, a longtime advocate for combat sports safety and thorough testing for prohibited and performance-enhancing (PED) drugs, with the goal of PED testing and educating fighters on the health dangers and penalties associated with doping.

Both Matthysse and Postol, who will fight for the WBC’s vacant 140-pound title, have volunteered to be a part of the new program.

According to the press release, the WBC-VADA initiative will sponsor “tutorials as well as complete policies and procedures” that will be available to the public on the WBC website.

The program is divided into three primary objectives:

-An awareness program to educate boxers on the dangers of illegal substances through tutorials, webinars, forums, materials , etc….

-Out of competition random testing

-Voluntary enrollment by fighters

The WBC and VADA will continuously report the progress of the venture, according to the press release.

True, but that was already announced way prior to WBC linking up with VADA. Matthysse vs Postol didnt have a drug testing agency yet for their fight, so they are the 1st fight under the new protocol by WBC/VADA:yeshrug:

More testing is more testing im down with it no matter whos involved

Having a nikka like GGG or Matthysse get tested are good things

But WBC aint goin enforce it like that N have USADA guys not want the green belt...Let's say Cotton beats Canelo...you think they goin force Cotton to use VADA for his next fight??

Or if Floyd fights after Berto you think they goin force him to use VADA??

I doubt they'd even force :cape:to use VADA

WBC knows what's up...they'll say well these fighters are using another testing agency...as long as the fighters are tested we good :ohlawd:

Then collect they check :mjlol:

All I care about is busting the cheats breh...I wish that mandatory drug testing via VADA or USADA was enforced for every single fight, especially Championship fights:mjcry:

Every top boxer juices, so this news kind of sucks. It's definitely not in the best interest of the sport to be doing things like this, a lot of big names will get exposed then shamed/tar'd/feather'd by the ignorant public.
