For a major character plus 2 minors.

Veteran comic book creator Jim Starlin revealed in a Facebook post that Warner Bros. has provided him a royalty check for their use of his creation Anatoli Knyyazev/KGBeast in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - and that the single check was for more money than he's received from Marvel Studios for the use of all his creations combined, including Thanos, Drax, and Gamora.

"Just received a very big check from D.C. Entertainment for my participation in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice(Anatoli Knyyazev)," reads Starlin's statement. "Much bigger than anything I've gotten for Thanos, Gamora and Drax showing up in any of the various Marvel movies they appeared in, combined. Guess I'll finally have to sit down and watch the movie."

Starlin did not disclose the amount of the check he received, nor how much money he's received from Marvel. Starlin's Marvel creations have appeared in both Avengersfilms and Guardians of the Galaxy, with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 returning Drax and Gamora to the big screen on May 5. Then, in 2018, Avengers: Infinity War will pit nearly all of Marvel's movie heroes against Thanos, loosely adapting the Infinity Gauntlet story which Starlin wrote.

Greedy fukks :hhh:

Thanks to @Mr. Negative for the news.

Most of the creators of these characters get screwed when they move to TV and the big screen.
Poor Bill Mantlo created Rocket Rac00n and when dude got hit by a car and suffered a brain injury he had to sell off his own assets to pay for the care he needed.
I would recommend that every creator who has made a character at Marvel or DC before the first Superman movie came out should get their lawsuits ready to try and get some money from their characters being used in these movies. Because whatever deal they signed back in the 1970s likely did not take into account the money that would be made on the big screen with these characters 30-40 years later.

But in some way, who is at fault for that? Hell, Lucas laid that blueprint so no one after '76 has an excuse. Plus they need to determine if character is creator-owned or work-for-hire.

Nobody making comics in the 70s expected them to become the huge sensation they have become with these movies so those contracts never covered shyt like that extensively.
