Vanity is a deadly sin that involves excessive belief in one's own abilities or attractiveness to others It's a form of self-idolatry that can lead to separation from God. I'm old enough to remember when Vanity was a looked down upon and was the key ingredient of a narcist.
The reasons I state especially Black relationships, because we cap the most about our success. We're damn near living in a real life costume party with all the stunting we do. So many of our average women are waiting for a very wealthy man to come along and spoil them. So many of our average men are fronting as if we could come along and spoil the hell of these women. So it's just lies all around.
I'm in IT and dj on the side, so I deal with more people than most people. A lot of times I get booked thru social media, so i check out the person IG or whatever and I see lavish living. Traveling, fine dining and all. Sometimes I have to meet them before the event to get the deposit and I see how they're living.

I think to myself, you really about to drop all this money on a birthday bash while living in the slums, with no car? Sometimes it's a group of female roommates living rough, scrapping together to get a section and bottles service just to stunt online.
I think fronting and vanity has become the norm in our culture. We're spending our last to look successful. And I feel a lot of our women build there standards from this lifestyle they're pretending to have. This man has to come in and make it real. Anything less is settling.
