Westworld S1 didn't exactly need it
Westworld S2 improved greatly
Witcher S1 greatly improved the pacing, but it doesn't fix the shows inherent issues due to writing and weak directing.
It helps makes Westworld a lot more rewatchable product.
The only shame is season one non-linear storytelling is brilliant and doesn't feel like a forced gimmick. Season 2 feels like latter and didn't need to be there. It ruins the pacing of season 2. Season 2 Chronological is better than Season 1 in my opinion. It's brilliant when shyt is in order.
Shame Westworld fell off hard in season 3.
The Witcher season 1 has a lot of inherent problems with a lot of it being a collection of short stories seperated by so many years with very little link to an overarching plot.
I can see what they try to do, because they wanted to Introduce all the characters in episode 1 for max exposure and appeal for lasting viewership. The trade off is It makes for a worse product, but keeps it mysterious to keep viewers interested. I believe Netflix knew this and took the trade off. Geralt jumping to quest to quest is still as jarring and random in the base cut. The writing and bad CW quality scenes are still are what they are...
The Witcher Season 1 Chronological still is a lot better and feels more personally invested in these characters. You really get to spend a lot of uninterrupted time with the characters and it's for the better.
Once Yennefer gets into the recut, the shows really starts to converge and really builds a much better sense of urgency.
If you want find these cut. Google search.
I love non-linear of storytelling.
Westworld S1 is example of it done beautifully.
Westworld S2 and Witcher S1 turned it into a terrible forced gimmick to make a mundane plot seem way more interesting than it really was... Ultimately unnecessary.
ALL Westworld S2 needed to be was Jurassic Park with Robots. It didn't need to be pretentious.
The Witcher S1 simply needed to be a forward adventure, but it got butchered by Netflix editing algorithm to produce the most viewerships as possible.
