I don't think Hayes himself is saying it cause I'm sure he ain't that conventional, he's saying Vince's image of the top star isn't a CM Punk... just like it wasn't a Stone Cold. And judging by the pushes of Cena (and to a lesser extent, Orton) in recent years, it's probably true. I doubt Vince ever understood (or even understands now) the point of the taped wrists and the X's and all that shyt... But normally, the ones who didn't "fit the image" were usually the ones who became the top stars anyway.

Heyman does do that at times, but in Punk's case, Heyman was absolutely right. He probably just had a rep at the time of pumping up people who turned out to not be what he said they were. Didn't he once say Kevin Thorn could've been the next big thing?

This doc is interesting tho', because it shows Punk came a loooooong way there. He came in there with little to no expectation... he could've easily gotten treated like Brent Albright and Colt Cabana did. But he proved his worth... gotta respect that.
