I just realized we are rooting for the villains this whole time. They invaded the mind of a completely innocent person and fukked with his mind by using his dead dad amoungst other messed up tactics :francis:.
I feel bad for the dude

:russ: Said this when it dropped. It's not like other heist movies where the mark is a jerk and has it coming like oceans 11 or the sting. This is just a guy who inherited a business and his competitor wanted him to sell it. They used his messed up relationship with his dad, destroyed his relationship with his uncle, and picked on his grief over losing his mom. All for greed :deadmanny:

Come on man, they didn't kill anyone. This is no different than rooting for the bad guys in a heist movie. Did you root for the cops in The Town? :comeon:

I was just joking homie, relax:russ: But, you got me thinking.

I never root for the law in heists movies, whether its the town or the oceans movies or the sting. But the difference in those movies and inception, is that they're normally preying on people or institutions that deserve it. Whether it's Benedict or Lonnegan, they're all a$$holes at their core and they're no better than the criminals they pretend to protest. In fact, the criminals are often good people who have a code whereas most of their marks don't.

What separates this crew from those crews though is the corporate espionage angle. Cilian Murphy's character isn't a bad guy, he isn't an idiotic mark who has it coming, he isn't a philanderer, or someone who's past is catching up to him. He's just a guy who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Like I said before, they ruined the one good relationship he had in his life and used his raw emotions about his mom and dad to manipulate him. That's different than Danny showing us how greedy and selfish Terry is or Henry and Johnny exposing Doyle for the douche he is and caring nothing about the people who work for him and for being a criminal.

And again, I'm just joking around I don't think these guys are the worst human beings on the planet lol but their actions are questionable simply because the normal heist movie trope isn't there. Even Dillinger spared innocent people and their money, purely aiming to take down the corrupt bank system that he knew could afford to take a hit

Yeah, but at the end of the day, he got closure with his father (as artificial as it may be) and no one got hurt :manny:

Right and that plays a part in them being good people too. They actually fixed one relationship even at the cost of destroying another for what its worth. But I also think that shade of gray works for something like corporate espionage. Companies hiring thieves to steal information from other companies is a shady business by definition so it makes sense for the people involved to not necessarily be paragons of morality and virtue
