Wassup ya'll, I rap under the name Doc Pro. I'm 19 and live in the Newark area. I just wanted to share some of my material with ya'll to see what you think. I also make almost of the beats I rap on and I sing some as well. I gotta start taking more care of my voice more but I feel like I can hone that skill.

These are my 2 tapes; the first from June 2011, the second from July 2012.

Red October Mixtapes - Doc Pro- I Get L.I.T.E (Lost In Thought Everyday) | HotNewHipHop

Red October Mixtapes - Doc Pro - The Red Sea | HotNewHipHop

I'm also in a group called Red October. There's originally 4 of us, but one is training in the Army now and the other wants to focus on behind-the-scenes, so there's just 2 of us rapping now. This is us with all 4 of us, from October 2011.

Red October Mixtapes - Red Rum | HotNewHipHop

Just looking for feedback. Thanks in advance for your time and comments.

Just heard everything bro. First off, you actually have talent. It just needs to be sharpened. I'll keep it funky with you from my perspective:

1. Your lyrics are pretty good. But alot of what you say gets lost cuz of the flow. I'd slow it down a bit. That way the puns, similes, metaphors, etc hit ppl better. The delivery has a Big Sean touch to it. I don't know if you're going for that but don't. There's only one Big Sean. The world needs Doc Pro.

2. You got a good voice (pause) for rap. But you'd benefit from adding some more emotion in your voices, if not just in specific parts. Like really emphasize your puns, similes, etc. I also didn't notice and doubles or background vocals. Those things emphasize the parts you want to emphasize, which I would assume would be the hot lines.

3. You're a far better rapper than you are a singer. Do one thing greatly instead of 2 things ok. Hip-hop got enough Drakes. They need Doc Pro.

Thanks man. And I know I've been retooling the flow/delivery cause a lot of ppl don't catch it. Never got a Big Sean comparison that's interesting.

And do you suggest to stop singing completely? I ain't gonna front that'll be difficult to do lol a lotta hooks come to me naturally in melody form.

Stop completely. But if you must, I would spit the lines naturally, and then sing the line melodically underneath the spitten vocals, sorta like what Kendrick does.

I like your style, you are def a spitter. I think you are nice. As far as what Mr. Leonidas is saying about singing, I feel like for hooks, if you layer it right it can be good, with some better mixing. But keep doing you thing. I like it.

Thank you I appreciate it. And yeah I learned later on that I pretty much gotta triple my vocals on hooks instead of doubling, even when it's a rapped hook sometimes.

I'll continue to :cook: and keep improving! Thanks, Ensi!

talent is there, I'll be checking for more. I would still work on the singing on the side if i was you (get a vocal coach and etc) could turn out to be a handy asset later on for you. Just dont get confused on who you want to be and have different identities. I agree with the flow and delivery needing some polishing, but overall good stuff.
