Was Uncle Tom in Uncle Tom's Cabin Really an Uncle Tom?

honestly can't remember anything about the book..probably was like 6th grade when i read it

from what i gather tho he died a martyr's death..

so how did the term uncle tom derive from that?

Just ignant nikkas showing their ignance is how that term got its meaning today I guess.
I wish I still had a copy of James Baldwin's response to Uncle Tom's Cabin. Basically dispute all the shyt Tom when through, he was quick to forgive the men who beat him to death. Tom was not eager to escape to freedom compared to the Black female slaves. Stowe made Tom into a humble, Christ like figure but it doing that but in doing so turned him into a bytch. Also the book is chalk full of Black stereotypes.
