After watching these promos, do you think HHH was trying to bury the WM 17 main event? I guess he has always been insecure that he was never the number 1 guy like Austin and Rock.

Probably my most tolerable Cripple H promo..I remember it like yesterday because waa missingbthe night after NWO 01. In retrospect, he was trying the Takee match because he knew the fans were insane over the Rock/Austin war of 2001. Which was teased ever since Austin came back..Sept 2000..Armageddon 2000..Rumble 01...etc.

Around that time, I was always wondering why Cripple H never faced Taker..it was like he was hiding from that character..Taker lost to him in Nov 2000 on Smackdown with heavy Angle interference. That was it. So I wanted to see Taker go over Cripple H...

Nah, Triple H vs. Undertaker was a big match, just trying to get that over and it's remembered fondly. I know that sledgehammer spot was one of the best near falls of the entire streak, I'd put it up there with Arn Anderson's spindebuster and later Triple H doing the tombstone in I believe WM 27

I miss HHH when had some semblance of cardio. That 2nd quad tear was a done deal and was working on borrowed time.

He was already a gear slower after the 1st quad tear. HHH's prime got stunted by some serious injuries. We saw some flashes of prime 2001 HHH, but shyt... He fell off hard after those PEDs rek this body from 99-2001.
