Whole series of videos. Very interesting. Sphinx has water erosion on it but there hasn't been rain there since over 6000 yrs ago.

REALLY, THERE HASN'T BEEN RAIN THERE FOR 6000 YEARS, BROTHER?

:rudy:
Supposedly, You do know the sphinx is located in a desert. But you do bring up a valid point in that I am not very sure how they calculate that number. It may be as simple as looking at soil samples? Maybe not.

there is much investigation we must do to be intellectually honest friends.

but don't you find it interesting how Egypt started at its peak and gradually declined?

there are many points made in this series. It's not just one thing. You should watch the documentaries brother.

THAT ISN'T EVEN REMOTELY TRUE, BROTHER! THE NARMER PLATE AND SIMILARLY OLD ARTIFACTS SHOW A MUCH LESS SOPHISTICATED SOCIETY THAN THE DYNASTIES THAT WOULD FOLLOW, BROTHER! THE HISTORY OF EGYPT IS FASCINATING BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF QUACKS AND RACISTS WITH AGENDAS, DUUUUDE!

THE IDEA THAT THE SPHINX SHOULD BE DATED OLDER BECAUSE OF APPARENT EROSION IS NOT GENERALLY ACCEPTED IN EGYPTOLOGY, BROTHER! A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE ARE OBSESSED WITH IT, BUT THEY'VE GOT LESS THAN A HANDFUL OF EVIDENCE, MAN!

Sphinx water erosion hypothesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

seems like there is a lot of controversy. I still think its an interesting discussion though. I love Egyptian history.

scust @ threadstarter not knowing how a desert works

A desert is a landscape or region that receives an extremely low amount of precipitation, less than enough to support growth of most plants. Most deserts have an average annual precipitation of less than 400 millimetres (16 in).[1] A common definition distinguishes between true deserts, which receive less than 250 millimetres (10 in) of average annual precipitation, and semideserts or steppes, which receive between 250 millimetres (10 in) and 400 to 500 millimetres (16 to 20 in).[1][2]

no rain in 6000 years my ass

Excuse me breh? You do know in the past before it became a desert, it rained a lot?

400mm of rain is not going to cause the water erosion found on the sphinx

the first society we know about were the sumerians and we don't know much about them. there were societies before them, but there's just no record of it.

i saw something on tv about a city being found that's like 50,000 years old but they dont know how it got there or who lived there.

the short answer is yes

the history of africa, especially egypt, has been severely distorted over time. by the time history starts recording the first dynasty the foreigners had already begun their economic and political invasion of egypt and the decline had begun.
