Was the 2011 Orton / Mark Henry storyline the greatest 'putting someone over' EVER?

I'm at work so I can't post the videos, but RKO's position is clearly solid with no worry of losing his spot, and he respects henry a lot...for him to LITERALLY be on his knees begging for mercy against mark henry was putting someone over in a way that I don't even think i've seen before. Dude lost cleanly which was right for business and built mark up to a spot where as we see, he can be off tv for like 10 months, come back, and be a legit #1 contender candidate.

Have we seen this before? Maybe Hogan and Yoko but that was trash...and WWF only really did that when someone was leaving the fed (especially the #kliq ).

Someguys jobbed superclean for goldberg but not tier zero guys....Henry was pretty much floundering until orton made him look legit. :whoa: now i'm not taking ANYTHING away from the phenomenal work he's done but rko does deserve a salute.

I think its the best example of this ever, and orton and henry deserve a slammy for some GOAT in ring story telling.

EDIT: and the biggest factor is that orton wasn't leaving the company, he wasn't a face that needed to build up a heel to get revenge like how hogan did earthquake and bossman and them...that is a huge factor

:rudy:

Henry had run through Big Show, Kane, and Sheamus with ZERO retribution before he come up against Orton. There was only one way it could go and it that's the way it went. Props to Orton but he wasn't even looked at as a roadblock on Henry's path of destruction, just a traffic cone. :yeshrug:

big show and kane were ESPECIALLY jobber status then and sheamus had already fallen back. Orton ran through everyone and was a solid super legit champ.

He went from :birdman:  to everyone on the roster, to :whoa: :sadcam: :why: when mizark stepped up.

in the ring, he was getting destroyed and begging for mercy. THAT is the difference

if you don't believe me, look at the crowd...WWE youtube channel uploaded the end of that match this week (someone post it please). the crowd is straight :merchant: :whoo: :damn: at the result and mark cut the promo of his life.

The other wins by mark were stepping stones...it was THAT win that made him.

No.

Orton did put him over pretty well though.
well feel free to propose some others. I was going to ask 'what is' but my bias would've been obvious anyway.

The Rock putting over Brock Lesnar is definitely up there. Rock didn't make himself look as vulnerable (and thus making his opponent look like a monster) as much as RKO though (and really, he shouldn't have...)

Nah.

To me The Undertaker(Big Evil) vs. Jeff Hardy ladder match for the Undisputed Title on Raw was. You know why? Because he lost...and yet he was still 'put over'. By the commentators and specifically by Taker raising his hand at the end and Taker making it known that Hardy had earned his respect. The match pretty much alluded to the fact that Hardy would become a main event guy and eventually World Champion sometime in the future. That match happened in 2002.

People can lose and still get put over.

Though Mark was booked as a beast that entire time i was still skeptical that they would let him beat Orton. At least without some fukkery involved. But i was pleasantly suprised when they let him beat Orton clean. And i don't think Orton has gotten the win back yet.

Im at work but from the top of the dome,

Hogan/Goldberg On a throwaway match on nitro...only to get screwed by his his homie...only to give the belt back to hogan. you CAN NOT be serious.
Hogan/Warrior Arguably yes, but hogan stole the spotlight on the way out fo course.
Foley/HHH Not really on the same level. HHH never allowed himself to look weak to build foley.
Hogan/Rock Novelty match...enhanced neither guy
Rock/Brock yes.
Andre/Hogan Yes..but hogan was already that guy going into the match. Agreed though.
HHH/Batista Not even close.
Hell even Benoit/Orton was better still a good one Orton did well :wtb:
