I saw this on Youtube and it got me like Was Avon playing the long con on Marlo brehs

Marlo got played so hard in this scene lmao. Avon knew that Marlo would fukk up the connect because he's not smart enough to handle business like that, at the same time Avon also knew that he could use Marlo to take out Prop Joe from the picture. At the end who had the Greek connect? Slim Charles aka Avon's crew!

This scene is no different than D teaching Bodie how to play chess. One plays the short game and not the long one, which is why some can't and won't win. Chess not checkers: the 100K was just an inconvenience to let Marlo know nothing happens in this game that doesn't benefit Avon. His sister gets some anonymous money, which Avon was trying to pay her in the first place when she wanted to go to the cops after stringer told him he had D jerked. So bam, that's two birds with one stone just right there. Sergei is lined up with both the Greek and Avon so Avon has a direct line to the connect while in jail anyways and he's the buffer so that business stays good in Baltimore even if Marlo messes it all up. he knows if Marlo is willing to drop Joe and Hungry Man, all those bodies before, chase Omar all over the city, etc. that he's probably either going to be sloppy and get caught trying to maintain or get to the top with no alliances to keep him safe when the next Marlo comes around for the crown. Marlo does sell for 10 Million, but Avon still wins the long game because he comes back as the king with Slim Charles who everyone respects, Marlo gets his money so he can take his win and disappear, or cross Avon for making him that money in the end and face the whole old Co Op, who knows he's behind Joes death, and be locked up immediately. Marlo has his King piece cornered. Checkmate. Neither of them necessarily lose, but Avon is the real winner. This game is bigger than your binary outcome bias.

No one's saying he did but, who's to say he didn't make adjustments after realizing Marlo's plan. You think Avon was in jail beating his meat all day or in jail thinking about how to get back into position? Marlo kills Prop Joe for him. Avon sees that Marlo is a hot head who won't hold control for long. Avon is in jail with the connect for the first time, because East side nikkas always had the connect. Avon gets Marlo to send his sister 100K to calm her down with D'Angelo getting killed. Coincidentally, after everything goes to complete shyt, who gets the connect? Slim Charles. A nikka who never wanted to be CEO and would welcome Avon into that role once he got home. Even if you don't think Avon was planning that, this is what would've happened had the show continued. Avon would come home and Slim Charles would hand over the reins I'm already sold on this theory considering Avon asked for 100K. He had Marlo by the nuts. He could've asked for 500K. But he secretly wanted Marlo to get the connect because he wanted Marlo to kill Prop Joe for him. The money was just a cherry on top for his people.

Anything's possible considering how Avon in season 2 used Wee-Bey's problem of being harassed to by a C/O and flipped it as a way to get early parole.

To be fair the writers have stated that some scenes are meant for viewers to draw their own conclusions. Avon is the last man standing and his name was still respected in the streets, Slim wouldn't be able to go against Avon because he's more of a soldier than a leader.

It's not that the outcome isn't plausible...it's not even that Avon didn't see it coming, it's that Avon didn't scheme to make it happen. He didn't lead Marlo to Sergei, didn't convince Marlo to kill Prop Joe, didn't play a role in Marlo's downfall. All those things were happening without Avon's influence.

If Sergei is locked in a different prison, the only difference in the outcome is Avon doesn't get the 100k. That's all Avon schemed him out of.

Marlo didn't kill Prop Joe for Avon my nikka stop reaching... He killed him because Cheeze sold him out and most likely told Marlo about about how Joe put Omar on to those card games where he robbed Marlo.... And also, killing Prop Joe, and taking over forced the Greek to have to deal with him
