Cliffnotes.

The Warrens signed an agreement with some Author saying that only he can make movies, tv shows, books etc. on their work. Then in 1997 the Warrens signed a contract with WB saying they can use their work to make movies. The Conjuring comes out and the author says that it's based on his book that the Warrens gave him the rights to. WB says that it's "Historical Fact" so they can use it according to law. So WB has to prove it's "Historical Fact" and that all the stuff in the movies actually happened or they have to pay him.

They have a legal team but this guy had his contract with these people first... :ld: shyt does take precedence. I mean it falls on WB because they didn't have their legal team check the background for any pre existing contracts on the material in the first place, fukking sloppy but hollywood movie studios have always done this... if they cant win they'll settle it out of court... :ld:

even if it's historical fact, if the Warrens had a hand in making it and it's similar to the book, the author should be gravy, right?
