Vitor Belfort is one of the few men with first hand knowledge of what it's like to be in the UFC octagon with both Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. Belfort was on the receiving end of one of the great UFC highlights as Anderson Silva delivered a front kick to the face, knocking Vitor out. Vitor was also close to defeating Jones in their meeting in September, almost finishing him with an armbar before eventually being dominated and finished himself.

So when he talks about who he thinks would win the much discussed superfight between Silva and Jones, it's worth paying a little bit of attention to how he sees things going (via Fighters Only):

"Anderson vs. GSP is meaningless. It would make sense if Anderson fought Jon Jones. Anderson is a fighter at another level. I'm not underestimating Jones but appraising Anderson. He's one of the best that has existed, I always thought it," he told Por Dentro da Arena in his native Brazil.

"It is very nice to see his success. I know what he has gone through. Anderson is in a very high level and should defend his belt or fight for the light heavyweight title. I think he has a greater possibility to beat Jones. He would win on the feet."

He would definately beat jon jones into another planet on the feet. Jones would definately take him down and definately snuggle him like Chael but he'd probably get subbed or anderson would get back to his feet and knock his block off.

Vitor is right, Silva is so pinpoint on the feet Bones wouldn't take that risk. .. Jones likely gets him down fairly quick, fights for side mounted crucifix and starts raining those nasty hellbows that are both extremely lethal BUT very vulnerable to an armbar/triangle.

If a superfight just has to happen I hope its this one because these two are an intriguing style clash. GSP is either getting snuffed out quick as hell or he's gonna Chael Sonnen Silva for dear life avoiding subs and the standup at all costs.

Agreed. Jones would be crazy to stand with Silva. The blueprint is out there on how to beat Silva, even if it didn't actually work for Sonnen, and that's to take him down and keep him down while raining down punches and elbows. It's by far Jones' best chance, and he's capable of winning that way, but as you say, he's also vulnerable in that position.

This is definitely a more intriguing fight than Silva-GSP, and I can admit that even though I am a GSP fan and I actually believe GSP has a strong chance of winning if they fight at a weight close to 170. Unlike a lot of people, I am not bored by GSP's style at all.

And yeah, Belfort may have a bias, but it's not like he's lying here. What he says makes perfect sense and he's a pretty good source.
