There's not much correlation between one and the other IMO.

In the grand scheme of it all, Punk didn't lose at all. He was miserable, beat up, burnt out, and had been misdiagnosed (at best) with some shyt that could have really taken him out during his last run. Not to mention that no matter what he did or how popular he got, he was never gonna be pushed like the true top guy.

He'd probably be dead from the stress, the injuries or simply having to wallow in his own misery by now if he stayed there.
