[×] [o] NYBB: jordan wasnt a great jump shooter

said by Villain/Zach.

He said that Lebron is a better jumpshooter than MJ, and that

...

a FADEAWAY JUMPSHOT, is in fact NOT ACTUALLY A JUMPSHOT.

Let me get some opinions here.

Is a fadeaway jumper a jumpshot?

Is LBJ a better JUMPSHOOTER than MJ?

Initially he was an average jumpshooter but his athleticism and court vision aided him on that, but during the 2nd Three-Peat, he became an insane jumpshooter.

MJ was always a very good jump shooter, his athleticism overshadowed everything else though. He always had a good jumper and was a good defender, he just improved them to godlike status over his career.

his J was good his first couple of years, but his form was a bit awkward. i notice when he was younger he'd almost cradle the ball when he shot. as he got older he refined his mechanics a bit, got a better, smoother form and more lift.

I disagree. He was water from 17 in. Whos midrange game is or was better?

Oh I forgot, most of you never actually saw him play :yeshrug:

Well first off, I watched since he got drafted, being good from 17 ft does not a good jumpshooter make, as SG, it's a requirement. You misread my post, his FG percentage was initially something that was somewhat inflated by his athletic ability to get to the rim, as well as create space using a fast break pull-up, which are many of the shots you mention in the 17ft range. I never said he was a bad jumpshooter, I said it was initially average in an age where there was virtually no real perimeter defense and it became godlike as his game matured and defenders were forced to adjust to his game. Larry Bird, Bernard King shyt Adrian Dantley had mid-range games equal to or better than Jordan early on. So please miss me with that I didn't watch him play. Jordan is the GOAT shooter no doubt but he didn't come in like that, he got dramatically better especially after the 88-89 season.
