Are you curious how the plot unfolds for Death in the upcoming multiplatform, apocalyptic action game, DarkSiders II? Well, Vigil Games gives a brief rundown of Death's role in the story-arc as well as how it all ties in with what started with War.

The game is shaping up to be really radical and I'm totally digging the direction Vigil went with this game. The not-so-black-and-white moral gauges and the unclear direction of the whole apocalypse makes it a very interesting tale to tell and I'm glad Vigil is telling it, because I can easily imagine a lot of other studios copping out and going the easy route with a franchise like this.

You can check out and see how it all comes together, without spoiling anything of course, in the brief story trailer below.

DarkSiders II was recently delayed from it's early summer release and pushed back to August so that Vigil would have time to iron out all the kinks and make it the best possible game that they could.

Despite THQ's financial woes, a lot of people are banking on DarkSiders as being the dark horse of the summer and potentially helping pull the company out of their money lull.

You can look for DarkSiders II to launch on August 21st for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. For further information on the game or the chance to pre-order, feel free to pay a visit to the Official Website.

Same. Played it for about 5 mins. Felt generic. Graphics were ass. Sent it back to gamefly the same day.

Want to reap the souls of mortals? There's an app for that. No, really. THQ yesterday released the Darksiders II Soul Harvest through the App Store, allowing iOS users in the U.S. and Canada to collect the souls of the living in order to unlock some in-game goods for the upcoming Darksiders II, as well as enter to win some daily and grand prizes.

You know how your friends are always checking in on Facebook to let folks know where they are? You know how that always upsets you because, really, who wants to know where anyone is 24 hours a day? Well, now you can take advantage of that vanity with the Darksiders II Soul Harvest app. When someone checks into nearby locations on Facebook, your new app will “collect their souls”, earning you tokens and moving you further up the leaderboard. Given the release of The Dark Knight Rises this weekend, I'm thinking all of the nearby theaters would be an excellent place to start your soul harvest.

Collecting souls will allow you to unlock various bonuses within Darksiders II, which is set to release on Aug. 14, as well as some goodies for your phone. These items include a special weapon in the game, the first issue of the Darksiders digital comic, mobile backgrounds and more. You'll also gain access to special daily drawings for items like a life-sized replica of Death's scythe, as well as a grand prize drawing for a trip to the Yucatan Peninsula, home of the Chicxculub crater that supposedly marks the landing spot of the meteor that wiped out the dinosaurs. (Super fans of Dead Space will know this site is actually home to a Marker that turns people into murderous monsters, but that's a totally different story.)

The final bit of news is that the app has been released in partnership with Best Buy, so you'll get extra points for harvesting souls that have been lost in that particular brick and mortar location.

To get to harvesting, head on over to the App Store and download the app for free.

Death is the most feared of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse so it's only fitting that his opponents in Darksiders 2 be just as imposing. A new "Death Comes For All" trailer introduces some of his foes.

Darksiders 2 takes place around the same time as the first game. Death has learned that his fellow Horsemen War has been stripped of his powers after starting the Apocalypse early. In his quest to prove War's innocence, Death will run afoul of angels, demons, and a variety of twisted monsters.

One of the adversaries shown in the video is Samael, a demon prince. Samael was freed from imprisonment by War during the first game. It seems his incarceration didn't turn him into a kindler, gentler person.

War himself even makes a cameo in the trailer. In an interesting twist, Death is fighting him. War looks different somehow - maybe he's under someone else's control? Guess we'll have to wait until next month to figure out what the deal is.

I wanted to lay hands on this nikka in the first game...:leostare::deadhorse:
