Former WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-5-2, 22KOs) is back for revenge. Ortiz has lost his last three, all inside the distance, and hasn't won a fight since 2011. Ortiz is still only 27-years-old and believes there is more than enough time to rebuild his career.
Ortiz was knocked out in four round by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2011. The following year he was up on the cards, but couldn't continue past nine after suffering a broken jaw at the hands of Josesito Lopez.
The jaw injury took a long time to heal. He returned in January of this year and was knocked out in two by Luis Collazo.
On December 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Ortiz will return to action against an opponent to be determined. The fight will be part of a Showtime Extreme telecast.
Ortiz would like to get revenge on the fighters who beat him. The first person he wants to face is Marcos Maidana, who stopped Ortiz in six rounds in 2009.
"I would like to get my rematches. I would like to start with Maidana, that would be a nice one. Definitely Lopez...he got super lucky, but he got me. Mayweather, I would definitely love the Mayweather [fight], and obviously Collazo - last but not least. It happened, it is what it is. Beat me once...cool..but not twice," Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.
