I get all that but you and I know one of Trump, Biden will be POTUS. You know how powerful the courts are. So between the two, who do you want appointing judges that will affect our lives for many years. Local elections are necessary but the wrong judge can wipe away any advances you make on that front with an unjust ruling. The courts should be our main focus. Us educated folk need to get this message out. Look at the harm the SCOTUS has done in the last thirty years. They will overturn any reparations plan and you know it. Look what they did with student loans. What II don't understand is how reparations advocates(Tariq and the like) believe their chances are better with Trump. This is objectively crazy. Tell me how Trump is better.
It's not about getting "tangibles" from Trump/Republican/whoever. It's the long game of making the party that depends on us for votes deal with us on a real level and stop disrespecting Black voters and taking them for granted as they have the last 60 years. It's the long game of making the party that depends on us for votes deal with us on a real level and stop disrespecting Black voters and taking them for granted as they have the last 60 years. The way you do it is by getting politicians you want in there and that starts in local elections. Since 2016 there have been a bunch of grassroots campaigns for candidates that have progressive policies that would greatly help black folks. Not voting is just allowing the right to further fukk the system up so that we are not only further from the finish line but also have to obstacles in our way

Black people are 14% of eligible voters, half of those black voters live in deep read states with no chance of a democrat winning and only around 60% of black eligible voters actually vote.
Now you do some math and tell me why anyone would spend significant resources in courting those votes.

We gotta show up first and prove the votes are actually there, and get involved in the process through out the year. We gotta show them they have something to lose first before we can threaten to take it away.
