Ableton is way more complex. You're going to need some serious tutorials just to get one sound to play. The sounds are amazing without any effects.

You can make FL sound as good as any other program, but you're going to have to work or buy some nice VSTs.

I paid for Ableton Live but haven't updated since 6. The music in this record was composed in Ableton Live 6. FL Studio is free as in the bare necessities to make something.

As far as FL Studio goes, fukk the haters you can make it sound just as good as any other program, it all depends on the User, Abelton is a bit more complex if you ask me, I got the basics down of it and that took a hot minute of PDF reading and Youtube tutorial watching(as did FL studio)

I got a few friends who produce with reason that say when they open FL Studio it just looks OD complicated which bugs me out because anyone whose used Reason and just read that comment is like :pachaha: right now, I use reason as well and its def much harder

also pirate bay is your friend

So ableton's stock VSTs sound more 'real' than FL?

I meet need to make the switch :patrice:

Does having a background in FL help you understand Ableton at all?

I commend people that know how to compose in FL Studio. The true difference between the two is the way the sounds are mixed plus Live is made to be able to incorporate in live performances. Most of hip-hop records are being made with FL Studio but I am not too sure about other genres.

I think you need the "suite" version of ableton to get their stock synths. The standard version just has the mixing plugins.

I've used both FL and ableton, and I think it's a matter of personal taste. The real major difference is ableton has the clip launching feature for doing live work. All the other differences are all cosmetic and workflow stuff. I've met people that hate ableton just based on how it looks (it's not real sexy looking). I suggest getting the demos and seeing what feels more natural. I love ableton but the learning curve was steep.
