Some of the journalism on this piece is terrible. They purposefully remind the reader that she has been threatened for her activism throughout the article, insinuating that it is related, and then in the 2nd to 3rd last paragraph, state that she got shot at a house party and was likely not a targeted shooting.

Nah it was fair to point out that she had been threatened. There very well could be a correlation.
After all…a police spokesperson stated that it was “not likely a targeted shooting”.. and in the same breath stated that the investigation is still ongoing. How can they come to a conclusion of it not being a target hit without even having suspects identified, apprehended and questioned?
Because there are witnesses and interviews and people of interest (who are now arrested) in the ongoing investigation..

It's not that your conclusion is illogical given the framing of the article, it's that the article was framed in a way to create suspicion and invites the audience to jump to a potential conspiracy/coverup about BLM members being murdered when Occam's Razor suggests otherwise.

I don’t think it’s irresponsible journalism to state that someone who was just shot had previously had their safety/life threatened.
