Black people make up nearly 30 percent, roughly 1/3rd of all the citizens in Louisiana, republicans drew a congressional map during this year that packed black voters basically all into one voting district diluting their power, giving them control of only 1 out of 6 congressional districts in the entire state when the republicans control the rest. The supreme court just upheld that ruling with all conservative republicans joining in approving of the law. This here is a direct harm on black folks, as a result of this decision black people will have less voting power in congressional elections. simple as that.

Biden was suppose to fix this by adding two justices to the courts but nope
this kind of petition needs only four out of nine yes votes to be accepted, and if there's only three then usually a fourth will join out of courtesy. it would need to be a 7-2 liberal court to guarantee them not doing what happened today.

the voter registration deadline is louisiana is october 11 and the court starts their next session on october 3, there's no chance this'll be overturned by then. :martin:

the twitter account in the op has some good analysis in his timeline btw
