Of those executed, 12 were female. (The last was Teresa Wilson Lewis in Virginia on September 23, 2010).
Of those executed, 730 (56%) were white and 435 (33%) were black.
Executions were held in 34 different states: 484 (37%) were in Texas and 20 (1.5%) were in Indiana.
Of those executed:
1,130 (86.7%) were executed by lethal injection, including 667 of the last 677 executions.
157 (12.3%) were executed by electric chair. (The last was Paul Warner Powell in Virginia on March 18, 2010).
