Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and trainer Ben Davison have parted company in a shocking twist to their close relationship.

Davison took Fury from the depths of despair when linking up in late 2017 to a draw with Deontay Wilder in December 2018.

Initially, when they first met through mutual friend Billy Joe Saunders, Fury was TEN STONE overweight. Davison was an integral part of helping Fury drop the excess poundage and get back to fighting fitness.

The Londoner and Fury became inseparable for a period of time and enjoyed four wins from five fights together. Davison will forever be etched in Fury’s career for his constant coaching and quips from ringside.

Becoming a fan favorite, Davison is now ready to forge his own path and has already begun assembling a stable.

Taking to social media to confirm, Davison revealed the amicable decision to go their separate ways.

Obviously it’s not gonna stop until there’s an answer, Tyson and myself had to both make decisions for our careers, which resulted in our working relationship coming to an end, HOWEVER, we remain friends and he will SMASH the DOSSER!!

WILDER II
Fury will now take on a new coach for what will be the biggest fight of his career against Wilder on February 22nd. The rematch is set to be far bigger than the first fight.

Since the end of last year, Fury has signed with Top Rank and gone on a media offensive to get his name out in the United States. This comes ahead of plans for Wilder vs Fury II to be shown on dual Pay-Per-View for US viewers.

Fox Sports and ESPN+ are set to share rights to the Las Vegas return.

Moving on, Fury will be aiming to end Wilder’s formidable record after witnessing ‘The Bronze Bomber’ blast out Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz in 2019.

Wilder is now the number one heavyweight in the world. Fury is a close second.

FURY/DAVISON RECORD
SEPT 2019 – Otto Wallin (W / UD12)

JUNE 2019 – Tom Schwarz (W / TKO2)

DEC 2018 – Deontay Wilder (D / SD)

AUG 2018 – Francesco Pianeta (W / PTS10)

JUNE 2018 – Sefer Seferi (W / RTD4)

Anyone with knowledge on Sugar Hill and the Kronk gym? Everyone is saying given Fury's last outing and John Fury's reaction to it, it makes full sense for him to get an experienced trainer and refresh his camp, but it may be too soon to February. Hopefully they push it back. I think Fury will try be more aggressive in this fight and go for broke, as hoping to fight a perfect fight against Wilder and not get hit seems to be unlikely, coming to Wilder and being slick, maybe a good approach, but who knows if Sugar Hill/Kronk can get this out of him..

Its too soon for any trainer to implement anything new.

He might just hire out Roach since they've worked together before and Roach can make the whole experience calm for him

Sugar Hill and Fury could make sense potentially, he's certainly a lot more experienced than Ben Davison was.

Ben seemed more like a motivator to Tyson and some what of a fitness trainer, he had boxing knowledge but at times he came off as more of a cheerleader than a coach. I didn't get the impression he had any real authority over him. It doesn't have to be a drill sergeant like relationship but that respect is important.

It could go 1 of 2 ways, Tyson struggles without Ben's motivation or he's already motivated now and the new set up just helps him be better. Ben was also a defensive coach so this could be sign of a more offensive approach which could backfire badly against Wilder or it could help.

Personally I think he has to give Wilder something to think about too not just move. He has to remain fully switched on and focused defensively but if he offers more offensively he could win the fight easier. It's true Fury isn't the biggest puncher but he has good speed for a man his size so if he comes in strong and quick at his size he can hurt Widler, Wilder won't want to take those cumulative shots because they will add up.

Ben also was a bit of a boy at times, not to shyt on him, but he was inexperienced and at times he would panic and it would seem like he's lost. The experience he now has should be able to deal with any situation.

It's an interesting development and adds another dynamic to the fight. When people say it's not enough time that's not true, it's more than enough time, it's not enough time to completely change the fighter but that's not what they will be doing at all, Tyson has been boxing for long enough, he's very experienced in the ring, they will just be trying to improve in a few areas and come up with a game plan.

Feels like this a move of someone taking the fight seriously which is good for him. It's not like it's a stranger he's never met before, it's a gym he's been in before and a trainer he's dealt with before. Manny rated Fury very highly.

He could beat Wilder by being at his chest, close range. Wilder is at his most effective when he is at long range and he can turn onto his straight/overhand rights, on the inside, he is not that good. Fury is a better inside fighter and a bigger guy than Wilder so he could pull it off too. However, fighting on the inside for extended periods is not Fury's style so I expect something similar to the first fight with Fury being a little more collected throughout the fight and pulling out a clear UD without being hurt the way he was at the first fight.
