Akosomobo – Two African Americans who are prominent leaders in the African American community in the Eastern Region were found dead on Monday evening, reports the Ghana Web.

Their disappearance was reported on Tuesday when their whereabouts could not be accounted for, the Akwamu Traditional Council appointed 70 people to form a search party. It was then that they found blood on the floor of their home as well as a cudgel that was covered in blood.

The two murdered persons are Mamlena (75) and Nzinga (60) whose deaths come after they were accused of acting as chiefs under false pretenses.

The first bate of threats came when they were forcibly removed from their houses by a Ghanaian Osofo who held a prominent position amongst the National House of Chiefs. In addition their dogs were poisoned.

After neighbours did not hear from the two women on Tuesday members of the search party forced themselves inside the women’s home but found nothing but blood and a suspected murder weapon.

This prompted an even bigger search and on Wednesday morning the suspected area in which they have been buried is under investigation. According to Samon Lardy Anyenini, a private legal practitioner representing the two deceased, they launched lawsuit against the Osofo claiming they were mistreated after being forced out of their home claiming the eviction was in the name of national security.

The Attorney- General called for the parties involved to come to a reasonable agreement therefore the case was dropped.

"Murdered expats not involved in land dispute"

http://m.starrfmonline.com/1.3499989
Lawyer for the two African Americans who were murdered at Akwamu has denied reports linking their death to a land dispute in the area.

Police in Akosombo found the bodies of the two African Americans buried by some unknown assailants.

Their bodies were found after a search team found a pool of blood and a blood-stained cudgel in their room.

Sampson Lardi Ayenini, who is lawyer for an entity set up by the murdered Americans, said allegations of his clients being involved in land disputes are untrue.

“They settled in the area and were given large tracts of lands for which they own and have been doing developments on the lands, they don’t sell lands”, Ayenini told host of Morning Starr Kafui Dey Thursday on Starr 103.5FM.

Meanwhile, Police in the area have mounted a search for the murderers.

Akosombo Divisional Commander, ACP Bosompem has stated that a burial site had been found Wednesday morning and they were waiting for officials from the CID headquarters in Accra to help with investigations.
