Angelina Jolie‘s “Salt” is the latest film to get the TV-series-adaptation treatment.

Sony Pictures Entertainment is developing the 2010 CIA spy thriller as a potential TV show and is selling it to buyers and co-production partners at the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival.

Phillip Noyce directed the original film, about Evelyn Salt (Jolie), a CIA agent released from a North Korean prison camp who turns out to be a Russian double-agent.

The main character was originally written as a man. The Sony thriller made $293.5 million in global box office receipts.

In 2011, a big-screen sequel was being developed, with Kurt Wimmer, who wrote the original movie, on board and Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing.
