I’d say 6, but his Shooting Star Press was trash and that brought him down 2 points. How often did he connect without botching or flipping crooked? Then again, his SSP was the first time I’ve ever seen one. And his WWE theme was dope. :ld:

His SSP was the shyt when he was the only person I knew that was doing it.

But it has not aged well. I think he made the thing more difficult than it had to be and as a result, it became shyt.

However ... this cat stayed with a banger of a theme at all times and frankly, some of his signature offense was legit.

So ... good theme catalog, good moveset + trash finish, knocked down Torrie Wilson ...

Somewhat a favorable 6. He was an identifiable dude and had a pretty decent character evolution from white meat baby face jobber to itchy STD Flock member heel to popular midcarder face with a super hot Torrie at his side. Liked him teaming with Rey. Hated his feud with Hogan cause it was so unbelievable. No way in hell I was buying a midcarder Kidman being pushed as a prick and a bad ass vs Hulk Hogan. I'm all for pushes, but I hate completely unrealistic stuff like that.

He had an ok WWE run. The crowd was really into him even though the WWF were trying to beat into people's heads that WCW was second rate. The X-Pac feud was very telling cause X-Pac was repping the WWF, but Kidman was getting a lot of cheers over him. Re-watch the Kidman/X-Pac match at Invasion. The crowd popped for X-Pac's entrance then boo'd the shyt out him once he stepped in the ring :russ:

they were FIRMLY behind Kidman. I think he was some good matches with Tajiri and Jamie Knoble too. Was a fan of the Paul London team too, but around this time, he was slowly picking up weight but still trying to be a high flyer, kind of like Ahmed Johnson after his prime :francis:

that's why he was sloppy as shyt in 2004. Him crushing Chavo's face with an SSP had accidentally kicked off a really dope feud turning on Paul London. It was a great build, with every week Kidman being scared to do the SSP, and London trying to convince him to do so, capped off with a very good match at (I think) No Mercy 2004. Kidman was so good in this new heel role, but his body was breaking down week by week, and was far out of his athletic prime. London and Kidman fought more after No Mercy, but I really don't remember anything about Kidman's WWE tenure after that, other than being released and coming back years later as a road agent or producer. Kidman pretty much outkicked his coverage in wrestling getting as popular as he got and for being with Torrie on and off screen :pachaha:

he had nice themes throughout his tenure as well, and the Shooting Star Press is pretty much synonymous with him, though after all these years, he may have the worst SSP from everybody that has done it, but as far as I know, he's the first person I've seen do it, so he gets credit for that.

Smackdown in 04 mostly sucked outside of Eddie and Rey, but Kidman and London's feud was great. What I didn't realize til after I kinda backtracked was that this feud --- featuring two midcarders that had just lost the titles --- was a feud that was on and off and lasted til the beginning of 2005. The feud basically started in September of 2004 and ended in March :dead:

And it didn't feature two guys just fighting each other and exchanging wins every week. They made every interaction matter.

Two good matches they had here. The last one was a pretty bloody one and added to the intensity of it.
