Trump was supposed to be in prison. instead he's back in the white house and TIME person of the year. There's no hope for humanity.

Time magazine to name Trump ‘Person of the Year

Donald Trump is expected to be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” — and to celebrate the unveiling of the cover, the president-elect will ring the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday morning, according to three people familiar with the plans granted anonymity because they were not authorized to divulge the plans.
Last year, pop superstar Taylor Swift was recognized. To mark the magazine cover reveal, Time CEO Jessica Sibley rang the opening bell.
Trump was also named Time Person of the Year in 2016 after he won the presidential election. He joins 13 other U.S. presidents who have received the recognition, including President Joe Biden.

A short list for Time Person of the Year was announced Monday on NBC’s “The Today Show” and included Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Kate Middleton, Elon Musk and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Time already announced NBA star Caitlin Clark as Athlete of the Year, Elton John as Icon of the Year and Lisa Su of Advanced Micro Devices as CEO of the Year.
A spokesperson for Time said the magazine “does not comment on its annual choice for Person of the Year prior to publication. This year’s choice will be announced tomorrow morning, Dec. 12, on Time.com.”

The incoming president has long been fixated with being on the covers of magazines, especially Time.
The “Person of the Year” goes to a newsmaker who has had a significant impact on the year’s events, and in the past has included people ranging from Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth II to Vladimir Putin and Joseph Stalin.

Trump in 2013 called the magazine’s annual list of influential people “a joke and stunt of a magazine that will, like Newsweek, soon be dead. Bad list!”
And in 2015, Trump complained that he was not chosen for the magazine cover that instead went to then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel. But he went on to call being named “Person of the Year” a “great honor.”
“It means a lot, especially me growing up reading Time magazine. And, you know, it’s a very important magazine,” Trump said.
Trump has been featured on the magazine cover three times this year.

1. Person of the year is not a positive award. It reflects how often a person has been talked about whether that's good or bad. Hitler has been Time's person of the year before. That is an important piece of context that should be at the start of the article rather than near the end.

2. This article is purely speculative because Time hasn't commented. For all we know person of the year could be Jenson Huang because Nvidia is now a multi-trilliondollar company and AI speculation is essentially the only thing keeping the stock market growing. Moreover, bitcoin mining requires GPUs. Nvidia is making the most expensive and arguably most high quality GPUs.

3. You were living in a fantasy land if you ever thought america would put a white billionaire and former president in prison. If Obama did 1/10th of what trump did then yeah, he'd probably be put in prison because this country is extremely racist.

4.The Achilles heel of democracy is also the thing that makes it great: Its people. If its people's education and needs are not made a priority, they'll be too stupid to know the difference between a charlatan who lies to them about fixing all their problems easily and a rational actor who will do their best but can't fix problems that are complex and built up over several years with several legal decisions and laws that led to them becoming the status quo. Without education, people will devolve into authoritarianism. There's a reason why revolutions generally just end up with dictators.

Democracies around the world failed to reign in the worst excesses of capitalism and allowed big businesses to merge, grow, and take over the media and political institutions. Once they took over, they made their needs a priority over the needs of the people. While public institutions have failed to provide AFFORDABLE or FREE quality education that teaches people critical thinking skills, they are now collectively stupid enough to believe that what is in the interests of rich a$$holes aligns with their own.

Because Centrist-liberal parties have snuffed out any progressive movements within their ranks(afterall as beneficiaries of large kickbacks from big business they would lose out) there is no strong liberal movement to counter authoritarian right wing movements.

Mexico swung left. Brazil swung left. The reason they did, is because they ran progressive candidates who spoke specifically to the poor and the young who are struggling, they stayed on brand instead of trying to attract people who wouldn't vote for them. If democrats ever have a chance at winning again, they will need a white man with authentic life experience that isn't simulating empathy but actually possesses it. Democrats will need to rebuild their brand as the party of you and your coworkers instead of your middle manager who starts meetings with land acknowledgments and feigns progressive beliefs while still firing you for failing to meet performance review standards.

Mexico is not comparable to the US at all ; Claudia Sheinbaum would lose even worse than Kamala did

Mexicans are catholic, and we are told they are obsessed with machismo.

So how did a Jewish woman win the presidency?

Not only that, in a country with its own version of white supremacy, the party she won with "morena" translates to something like brown skin.

America is racist and they benefit from the psychological wage of whiteness. If the economy tanks under Trump, they at least feel comfortable knowing a white man is in charge who isn't threatening to take away their white supremacy. To lose even the social privilege of whiteness is a double L for them so they went out and voted for someone who would at least give them that.

However, when two white men are running and one has a better plan for the economy and is not trying to be republican-lite and more focused on the issues and distancing himself from the status quo, he will win. In the midterms if there are whites running with a focus on changing the establishment in Washington and giving regular people a break, they'll win.

It's being reported by a number of outlets. But let's be real, the average person thinks this IS a flex and that benefits him. Yall giving people too much credit. He will milk the hell out of this shyt.

PS: I knew he was never going to see a day in jail..but his ass should have been blocked from running again.

Most Mexicans are brown and relatively poor, so a party like Morena doing well is not surprising. They might be a Catholic country, but like the rest of Latin America they've secularized considerably and support for things like abortion and LGBT rights has increased.

While in America, a lower middle class white redneck can afford to support Trump for social issues ; they are still probably going to be okay unless Trump completely tanks the economy.
