The uninformed don’t realize that all tariffs do are tax the US companies here
When Trump make a a comment saying he’s gonna put Tariffs on goods from China, all he’s saying is that if there is an item costing $5 to make in China and $7 to make in the US then a tariff will add (let’s pretend) an extra $5 to any item that comes from China which a US company will pay
Now it costs $10 from any item that comes from China that a US company is now taxed on.. sounds good because now the $7 item is being bought right?
Not in a capitalist society where that $7 now becomes $9 because why wouldn’t I make a profit… so now that item that used to cost $5 coming from China, now costs $9 being made in the US all because of a tariff
Congrats… we just spent more on an item for no reason
