Finally, there's some news that'll even make Rust Cohle smile.
"True Detective" starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson has now become HBO's most watched freshman series ever. The gross audience for the drama series, which includes delayed viewers, has risen to 11.9 million viewers per episode.
With the new figures, "True Detective" passes the first-year audience numbers for "
Game Of Thrones." However, "GoT" still retains the honor of being HBO’s most watched series overall. Season 3 of "GoT" averaged 14.4 million viewers per episode.
"Six Feet Under" held the previous record for a freshman HBO series with 11.4 million viewers per episode.
"Game of Thrones" airs Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
