Dragon Lee signed his new main roster deal last week. Basically it made it worth it to him of having signed the NXT deal rather than the offered AEW deal. As noted, he went to people who knew the U.S. scene who told him he’d be lost in the shuffle in AEW. Previously people would have said not to go to WWE given their track record with all the wrestlers who came from Mexico besides Alberto Del Rio.

Money talks at the end of the day and the longer a show stays on, the more expensive it is to produce and keep.

This is true, Full House was canceled by ABC not because of ratings, but because it was too expensive with the cast salaries and all the other production. That’s really one of the best examples too.

The problem that wrestling and sports in general runs into is that gutting the cast and production isn't necessarily an option in the majority of cases compared to television shows, so you either have to come down on your asking price or find a way to increase ratings to justify the cost.

Let me ask y'all this, would Paramount network benefit if they were to get Raw, AEW, or TNA/IMPACT?
That's if Paramount Global is interested in wrestling again and I mean really interested. Realistically, Raw is probably staying on USA, unless AEW/WBD partnership goes south, they're staying on TBS/TNT. TNA would be their best shot, but things went bad towards the end with them and Paramount Network (Spike) even though that was almost a decade ago and if they're willing to start fresh again, then it work at well for both of them.

Keep in mind that Women of Wrestling is on the CBS syndication, so they still might be interested in wrestling.

I was literally about to mention Full House being too expensive to keep around before I saw your post. That's crazy how we were on the same page. :why:

Not to go off topic, but back then, a lot of sitcoms had longer runs than they should have because of goodwill. The network was happy to keep the show around, even if the ratings weren't that high. NBC would give shows additional seasons if they wanted. I found out from Todd Bridges' VladTV interview that Diff'rent Strokes was going to go another four or five seasons because it saved NBC when it came out. But Gary Coleman's parents kept harassing the NBC president for more money and calling him all the time, so they cancelled it. Plus, NBC had other shows out that were hits (Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers), so they didn't need Diff'rent Strokes anymore.

ABC picked it up for another season, but they cancelled it because Gary's parents were doing the same thing and demanding money again. Had they just calmed down and let things play out, Diff'rent Strokes would have been on for eleven or twelve seasons and they could have stolen more money from Gary.:mjlol:
