After being associated more with the NIT than the NCAA tournament for the past few decades, Madison Square Garden is back as an NCAA tournament site.

The NCAA announced the 25 sites for the 2014 and 2015 NCAA tournaments on Monday, and it included Madison Square Garden hosting the East Regional in 2014.

“And we are excited about the tournament returning to the world's most famous arena,” Dan Gavitt, the NCAA vice president of men's basketball, said. “Only three arenas have hosted more tournament games than Madison Square Garden, despite it being more than five decades since the last time it hosted. That gives you a great sense of the historical significance of bringing the tournament back there.”

By the time 2014 rolls around, MSG will not have hosted an NCAA tournament game in 53 years.

Dayton will continue to host the First Four, as it has done since 2001. This year, the University of Dayton Arena will host its 100th all-time tournament game.

The 2014 regional sites are: Madison Square Garden (New York), Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis), FedEx Forum (Memphis) and the Honda Center (Anaheim).

In 2015, the regionals will be hosted at: the Carrier Dome (Syracuse), Reliant Stadium (Houston), Quicken Loans Arena (Cleveland) and the Staples Center (Los Angeles).

For a complete look at the hosts for each of the preliminary rounds, head to the official NCAA website.
