Director Michael Bay talks about the running time for his next Transformers film, confirming that it'll be much shorter than the third installment. He also reveals why he made the first three movies so long, as well as why he's returning for the fourquel.

One of the biggest complaints about the first three Transformers movies - specifically 2011's Dark Of The Moon - was that the running times were far too long. The 3D threequel had a length of two hours and 35 minutes, which is really long for a summer blockbuster. However, Michael Bay promises to fix that in his fourth installment in the multi-billion dollar franchise. "I designed two hours 7 minutes, which I think is a good formula, which gives enough room to maneuver," he says. He also reveals just why he made the other films' running times very long. "Because in Transformers, you tell three stories in one, that of humans, the aliens and the robots. Also, the films were released in the summer and for this reason have become events. You want to make sure to give the public value for money."

Bay then talks about returning to the director's chair for another film, despite saying that Dark Of The Moon was his last Transformers. "I've thought about it. But Steven Spielberg was not going to make James Cameron either. The franchise was assigned to a new industry. This person would have to redraw the entire franchise, which is not an easy task. Creating robots alone takes several months to complete. Also, I knew an inexperienced director does not succeed in convincing a superstar to accept a role. That's why I initially convinced Mark (Wahlberg) to play in the film, issue a good start." Bay previously stated that Transformers 4 will be his last in the franchise, and that it sets things up for another director to take over (it has also been stated that the fourquel will kick off a new trilogy).

Transformers 4 stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz and Stanley Tucci. With production beginning in five weeks in Hong Kong, the film is set to hit theaters June 27th, 2014.

all people care about is the fighting robots.

why does he add human elements to the story at all?

If the movie is Pg-13 who really cares about Sam and his love life?

Exactly... Most bloated series of movies ever. Part 1 I can tolerate those other two were just obnoxious movie making.

Paramount has announced plans to launch a reality TV show in China in order to fill four roles in the upcoming Transformers 4 directed by Michael Bay.

Reality TV is as popular in China as it is in the US, and so the studio looks to bolster enthusiasm for the flick by casting two professional and two amateur actors through their Transformers 4 Chinese Actor Talent Search reality show.

The show will feature a panel of judges including Sid Ganis, the former head of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, Lorenzo DiBonaventura, producer of Transformers 4, Denise Chamian, the film’s casting director, and lastly Megan Colligan, Paramount’s marketing and distribution chief. Ganis is also the chairman of Jiaflix, a media company producing the flick along with Paramount and China Movie Channel.

What is this running time bullsh*t? A movie is bad because it's bad, not because it's "too long" or "too short". I'll stay in the damn theater for 5 hours if it's on some Godfather II sh*t.
