They do it because apparently the studies show that more people are likely to watch the movie that way than if they show less, even though it sounds counterintuitive.

This is partly the reason why I enjoyed Hangover 2 more than the first. Don't get me wrong, Hangover is funny, but a lot of the best parts are revealed in the trailer. Tiger in bathroom, Mike Tyson cameo, Missing tooth etc.

I watched Part II without ever really peeping a full length trailer, so the funny moments weren't already spoiled for me.

that movie quarantine a few years ago was the worst offender of this ever. they literally showed the last scene from the movie in the trailer

Yall remember that movie called "one missed call? They completley revealed the ending/twist of the movie IN THE DAMN TRAILER/COMMERICALS by saying the call was actually coming from someone in the house. It then turned out that scene was actually part of the ending.

i remember seeing the trailer for speed as a teenager, and seeing the bus drive all around, then seeing the bus drive into an airplane and explode. so you knew nothing would happen to the bus until it was sent into the plane

I think that was "When A Stranger Calls"

I actually saw that crap in theaters.. after that I made sure I never saw another PG-13 horror flick in theaters.. kids wouldn't shut the hell up.

the remake i take it. That was garbage as hell..

the original shytted me up good and proper! the intro scene is classic then the next hour or so drifts off somewhere, the ending brings back that same chill.
