…35 years after it was released due to a white musician’s cover version.

:martin:

I don't see the problem, is she a country singer?

I don't expect country music cacs to acknowledge Black people outside of a song or two about Tee Tot (the guitarist who taught Hank Williams) or Charley Pride so I'm pleasantly surprised

What's there to be mad about? It was a cover song and they honored her. The original song ain't a country song. Most times with cover songs that blow the original artist is barely acknowledged. Like how many people know the original Tainted Love was done by a black artist?

It was a country/folk song.

And the outrage is obvious, Connor. Black woman makes a classic country song that is largely ignored by the country music community…then 35 years later a white cover gets shine and awards for it.

Edit: removed the insult. My apologies, breh.

The rest of the album was mid. But this was a great song about how naive and hopeful women are when they start dating loveable losers. Then pressures mount on them when family and finances meet the fantasies in their rabid ass minds.

You'll find work and I'll get promoted :mjlol:

That dude ain't finding Sh1t.

You might be the first person I've ever seen think Tracey Chapman is a country singer or that "Fast Car" is a country song :russ:
Da hell was it, new age rap?

I need to break down the melodies and chord progression for you?

Brehs listen to trash rap all day trying to school someone on music.

lol I'm "Connor" but you the one saying Fast Car is a country song. "Fast Car is a country song" said no one ever. Were you even alive when the original dropped?

The song he covered was a huge hit that's why it's acknowledged. Most covers aren't hits first. It's like someone remaking Jesus Walks 30 years from now.
