doing the one in Austin the weekend of Oct. 6th.

anyone heard of this? anyone done it yet?

Here's my advice; Do either Spartan Race or Warrior Dash first. If this is your first time doing an extreme race, don't do Tough Mudder. It depends on the course, but the one here in Atlanta was something like 14 miles.

Spartan Race (again, depending on the race) was more like 4 miles. The length isn't what really gets you, it's the obstacles and running though all mud, crawling under the barbed wire, going through the tunnel made of tarp that's been cooking in the sun all day, etc. I've done Spartan Race before and I'm about to do Warrior Dash next week. I'll probably do Tough mudder after that, but I'll have had 2 extreme races under my belt by that time.

One of my friends has done it the past 2 years. Isn't there some shyt where you get electrocuted while doing hurdles? Why would anyone want to do that to themselves?

I did Warrior Dash last yr in New Orleans. It's in the rain and had to call it off after my group ran. There ended up being a tornado warning.
